The Real People Behind the Republican Legislative Conservative Movement

“Students for Fair Admissions Inc. is a well-funded legal activist group opposed to affirmative action. Edward Blum, a prominent figure within the organization, has spearheaded various interconnected groups that have effectively utilized the legal system to challenge race-conscious policies in academia, government, and private businesses. These activists have been at the center of contentious culture wars, engaging in debates ranging from drag queen library visits to critical race theory. In addition to Students for Fair Admissions Inc., Blum is also associated with the Project on Fair Representation, which threatened legal action against Coca-Cola in 2021 over their diversity requirements for legal counsel. Another group created by Blum, the Alliance for Fair Board Recruitment, sued Nasdaq over its rule requiring companies to disclose board diversity with specific representation goals by 2026.

Blum is not alone in his efforts. Numerous groups and individuals are poised to make their voices heard, including America First Legal, founded by Stephen Miller, an architect of President Trump’s immigration policies. This group has achieved legal victories while challenging initiatives aimed at addressing racial disparities and dismantling voting and LGBTQ+ rights. Fund managers like BlackRock have also faced scrutiny for their adoption of environmental, social, and corporate governance standards, leading to lawsuits, proxy threats, and the loss of state pension fund deposits.

An FBI agent, presented by House Republicans as a whistleblower, was suspended by the bureau for leaking sensitive investigative information to the right-wing group Project Veritas. This previously unreported reason for the agent’s suspension was revealed during testimony by Jennifer Moore, the FBI’s executive assistant director for human resources, to the House Judiciary Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. Parts of her testimony were included in a letter from top Democrats on the Judiciary and weaponization panels to Attorney General Garland, alleging that the agent had lied to the committee about the leak.
The committee itself, led by Jim Jordan, who was previously involved in the original Russia voting interference committee, has been accused of falsehoods and false accusations. Jordan secretly took documents and provided information from the committee’s investigation to the White House, giving Trump the advantage of promoting propaganda before the report was released. This allowed Trump to dismiss any future reports or indictments.

McCarthy tweeted that President Joe Biden was indicting Trump in the Mar-a-Lago missing documents case, calling it a ‘grave injustice’ and vowing that House Republicans would hold this perceived abuse of power accountable.
Ron DeSantis expressed concerns about the weaponization of federal law enforcement, stating that it poses a significant threat to a free society. He highlighted the perceived uneven application of the law based on political affiliation and promised to bring accountability to the Department of Justice, addressing political bias and ending weaponization.

Former Governor Chris Christie emphasized the need to rely on factual information rather than Trump’s social media account. He emphasized that nobody is above the law and pledged to provide further commentary once the facts surrounding any potential indictment are revealed.

Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson expressed his concern about the second indictment of Donald Trump and its impact on democracy. While acknowledging Trump’s presumption of innocence, Hutchinson called for respect for the office and an end to Trump’s campaign.

Senator Tim Scott emphasized the importance of confidence in the justice system and expressed his concern that the scales of justice seemed imbalanced. He pledged to address injustices and impurities in the system to ensure that every American can have confidence in fair treatment.

Edward Blum of Students for Fair Admissions has been a prominent figure in challenging race-conscious policies in academia, government, and private business. Conservative activists are now capitalizing on an increasingly contentious cultural climate, focusing on issues such as drag queen library visits and critical race theory. If the Supreme Court establishes a race-neutral standard, as anticipated, it may open the floodgates for legal and legislative challenges, like what happened after the Roe v Wade decision. Some groups are even pitting Asian Americans against African Americans in the hope of having a conservative Supreme Court overturn civil rights, mirroring the impact of Roe v Wade.

There are individuals waiting to exploit the language of such a ruling to challenge the administration and corporate America in their efforts to address historical imbalances. This strategic approach is part of the powerful network established by Edward Blum and his ideological allies. In addition to Students for Fair Admissions Inc., Blum is affiliated with the Project on Fair Representation, which threatened legal action against Coca-Cola for their diversity requirements, and the Alliance for Fair Board Recruitment, which sued Nasdaq overboard diversity disclosure rules.

Many right-wing groups pushing their agenda in the country are funded by a few wealthy billionaires. These individuals create multiple action committees, giving the appearance of representing a large portion of the population. However, in reality, the same creators and their small group of followers manage all these committees with a shared agenda. This practice creates the illusion of larger membership numbers than exist in reality.

Republicans often rush to pass laws without considering potential consequences. In this case, they will need to amend the law to reflect the true intention behind the ban, which is to target content related to gay, lesbian, black, and transgender individuals. The ban was not solely about removing pornography from school libraries, as there are already laws addressing that issue. It was primarily an attempt to prohibit any mention of gay, transgender, and black individuals in educational materials.”

The Conservative American Crusades

After the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, there was a sense that our fight for equality was nearing its end. A growing number of people began to support marriage rights, especially as they discovered that their own family members and friends, such as siblings, parents, aunts, teachers, and others, identified as gay. These personal connections demonstrated that the LGBTQ+ community posed no threat to society.

However, this acceptance was met with opposition from the religious right and conservatives who had spent over 50 years working towards overturning the right to abortion, using deceptive campaigns and misinformation. Despite the fact that a majority of people believe in a woman’s right to choose, the conservative movement’s success in overturning Roe v. Wade emboldened them to target other issues they disagreed with.

Under the leadership of Donald Trump and his divisive “leave-no-prisoner-behind” campaign, an atmosphere conducive to inciting violence was created. Trump portrayed those who disagreed with his beliefs as enemies, including immigrants, Muslims, the homeless, Black individuals, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other minorities.

The conservative movement sought to undermine the LGBTQ+ community by falsely portraying “Drag Queens” as individuals intent on grooming children. In reality, drag queens are performers who dress up as women for entertainment purposes, a practice that has existed in movies, television, and plays for years. Most of these performances are comedic or satirical in nature. However, conservative parents, influenced by right-wing propaganda against drag queens, falsely believed that all drag queens were attempting to influence their children’s sexual orientation. They also attacked teachers who offered support to children facing gender-related challenges or who simply lent a listening ear.

The early years of education, from kindergarten to fourth grade, should be a time for children to enjoy their childhood, but conservative parents injected sexuality into the conversation by indoctrinating their children to fear and hate these individuals they labeled as “perverts.” The children themselves were primarily concerned with playing on swings and experiencing the joys of childhood.

Subsequently, the conservative movement targeted transgender individuals. While the issue of transgender rights had not been a major problem prior to Roe v. Wade being overturned, there were local conservatives who opposed their children using the same bathrooms as transgender individuals. One potential solution would have been to create separate transgender bathrooms to address their concerns, but the real motivation behind their opposition was rooted in hatred and prejudice towards the LGBTQ+ community.

It was not about the children or the bathrooms themselves; it was solely aimed at turning public sentiment against the LGBTQ+ community. Moreover, the conservative movement attacked books under the false pretext of removing sexually explicit or pornographic content, but in reality, their goal was to eradicate any mention of homosexuality. They claimed to be protecting people from the devil and sought to erase gay history, culture, and achievements from the education system in favor of teaching their own version of Christian values. They aimed to suppress anything they disagreed with, including black history, to the extent that words like “gay,” “transgender,” and “black” would be effectively silenced. This manipulation and censorship of information is what grooming children truly looks like.

Furthermore, the conservative movement targeted teachers who dared to teach accurate American history, including its failures, in an effort to prevent their children from learning the truth. They banned books that contained real history and imposed their own distorted version on schools. While claiming to protect children, they expanded their restrictions to encompass all students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. They even denied healthcare to transgender teenagers, seeking to reverse their transitioning process and force them to conform to their own narrow definition of what a person should be. Initially, they justified these actions as measures to safeguard minors, but they eventually extended the denials to adults as well. This pattern of deception and discrimination repeats itself year after year.

When faced with significant public backlash or declining popularity, the conservative movement resorts to violence. They now target businesses that support the LGBTQ+ community and engage in physical violence on the streets. Although such incidents had occurred at a lower level in the past, the policies and rhetoric of the Trump administration, combined with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, emboldened them to escalate their actions to a more widespread and violent level across the nation.

They have compelled businesses to withdraw their support for the gay community and pressured cities to suppress gay pride festivals, all in an attempt to silence LGBTQ+ voices. In 2017, I wrote a report titled “Thirty Years Does a Man Make,” reflecting on my pride in witnessing a time when we were treated as equals. Yet, within just five years, we find ourselves losing so much ground. We must find a way to save this country, if it is still possible.

During the Christian Crusades throughout Europe in the twelfth century, Christians went to different countries killing those who don’t share their religion. We have an American form of the crusades here in America. Different time period, same hate.

Florida leads state with more laws restricting rights of the American people.

Of all the states that have passed laws restricting the rights of its people, Florida appears to be leading the pack with the following laws. Note that these are not all of the laws that have passed.

The Heartbeat Protection Act

A measure dubbed the Heartbeat Protection Act, signed by DeSantis in a closed-door ceremony last month, prohibits physicians from knowingly performing abortions after six weeks in most cases. Exception for rape, incest and human trafficking exist for up to 15 weeks into a pregnancy, but there is a caveat: Women “must provide a copy of a restraining order, police report, medical record, or other court order of documentation providing evidence.” Additional, after six weeks, two physicians can certify in writing that the abortion is necessary to save the woman’s life or to “avert a serious risk of substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function.”

Concealed Carry without a permit Act

In April, DeSantis unceremoniously signed legislation authorizing concealed carry without a permit in Florida. Under the law, which will take effect July1, gun owners are allowed to carry a gun in public without a government-issued permit. “You don’t need a permission slip from the government to be able to exercise your constitutional rights,”: DeSantis said at a March event to promote his new book at a gun store in Georgia.

The law also0 ends an existing state requirement to undergo training before carrying a concealed weapon outside the home. The government-issued permit remains available for those who wish to obtain one. And it would remain illegal to carry a firearm in certain gun-free zones, including schools, courthouses and college campuses. Some gun rights advocates have said that the law doesn’t go far enough while Florida Democrats have criticized DeSantis for signing the public safety bill, arguing that it achieves the opposite.

Eliminating unanimous jury decisions for death penalty

DeSantis in April signed a bill that eliminated unanimous jury decisions for the death penalty, making Florida the state with the lowest threshold for administering capital punishment. Under the new law, “if at least eight jurors determine that the defendant should be sentenced to death, the jury’s recommendation to the court must be a sentence of death.” If fewer than eight jurors recommend the death penalty, the law requires the court to impose a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.”

In January, DeSantis vowed to rid Florida of unanimous 12-member jury decisions for the death penalty, citing the verdict in the Parkland school shooting as a miscarriage of justice. The shooter was sentenced to life in prison without parole rather than death, due to three jurors recommending against the death penalty. “Today’s change in Florida law will hopefully save other families from the injustices we have suffered,” said Ryan Petty, whose daughter Alaina was killed in the Parkland shooting.

Defunding DEI programs at all state universities

DeSantis signed legislation to defund diversity, equity and inclusion programs at all universities, calling those programs a “distraction from the core mission.” Under the law, Florida state universities are barred from spending state or federal funds promote, support or maintain any programs that “advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, or promote or engage in political, and economic activism.”

The law also says general education courses “my not distort significant historical events or include a curriculum that teaches identity politics” based on “theories that systemic racism, sexism, oppression, and privilege inequities.”

Capital sexual battery

On Monday, DeSantis signed a bill that makes child rapists eligible for the death penalty with the minimum sentence of life in prison without parole. According to the measure, “a person 18 years of age or older who commits sexual battery upon, or in an attempt to commit sexual battery injures the sexual organs of, a person less than 12 years of age commits a capital felony.” “We’re putting pedophiles to death, hopefully,” DeSantis said, before sitting down to sign the bill in Titusville, Florida. The law runs afoul of a 2008 US Supreme Court decision prohibiting states from applying the death penalty for child rape if the victim did not die. “We think that in the worst of the worst cases, the only appropriate punishment is the ultimate punishment, and so this bill sets up a procedure to be able to challenge that precedent,” DeSantis said Monday.

Blocking Florida investments based on ESG factors

DeSantis signed a bill Tuesday that expands upon measures to block Florida investments based on environmental, social and governance, or ESG, factors while threatening banks and other financial institutions with sanctions if they deny business to people due to moral or political objections. “ESG is officially DOA in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said as he signed the bill in Jacksonville.

The new law codifies a measure approved last year by the State Board of Administration, which oversees pensions, which prohibits state retirement fund managers from making investment decisions based on reasons other than maximizing the highest rate of return. “It takes what we did last year with Florida’s Pension Fund, and it codifies into law the idea that the fiduciary obligation is to produce the best returns possible for the beneficiaries, not to be diverted in that task by pursuing these ideological agendas,” DeSantis said. Under the law, financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and other lenders, face fines if they refuse to lend to people for reasons other than “an analysis of risk factors unique to each current or prospective customer.” Under the law, banks that operate in Florida could face punishment if they refuse to lend to gun manufacturers, fossil fuel companies or certain far-right groups.

Ron DeSantis government bans new advanced African American history course.

Florida officials have blocked the introduction of a new advanced-level high school course that teaches African American history.  Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration said the proposed course “lacks educational value and it is contrary to Florida law”. The course is being rolled out in a pilot program by the US College Board to 60 high schools across the country. Officials did not specify what law the course breaks.

Restricting transgender Floridians’ access to treatments and bathrooms.

DeSantis signed into law new restrictions on gender-affirming treatments for transgender minors, drag shows, bathroom usage and which pronouns can be used in school. “We are going to maintain a refuge of sanity and a citadel of normalcy, and kids should have an upbringing that reflects that, DeSantis said at the time. LGBTQ+ advocates in the state criticized the legislation as a larger effort to erase them from Florida school and society.

He has geared up for a White House bid, and has seized on LGBTQ+ battles, which have included: one measure prohibits transgender children from receiving gender-affirming treatment, including prescriptions that block puberty hormones. Under the law, a court could intervene to temporarily remove a child from their home if they receive gender affirming treatments or procedures, and it treats such health care options, which are supported by the American Medical Association, the same as it would a case of child abuse.

He also signed a provision restricting teachers, faculty and students from using the pronouns of their choice in public schools. That bill declares that it must be the policy of all schools that “a person’s sex is an immutable biological trait” and “it is false” to use a pronoun other than the sex on the person’s birth certificate. It also affirmed that sexual orientation and gender identity cannot be taught in schools through eighth grade, codifying a state Board of Education decision to block such topics in all K-12 grades.

Separate legislation would give the DeSantis administration the power to take away licenses from establishments if they allow children into an “adult live performance,” widely interpreted as a crackdown on drag shows. Another prohibits transgender people from using a bathroom or changing room that matches their gender identity while in government buildings, including in places like public schools, prisons and state universities.

DeSantis signs bill that exempts records related to his travels from public disclosure

DeSantis signed a bill that exempts records related to his travel from the state’s robust public disclosure laws. Under the new law, law enforcement agencies would be barred from sharing any records related to the Governor’s security and travel, as well as “for persons for whom such services are requested by the governor.” The expansive language could allow the DeSantis administration to keep secret trips arranged by the governor’s office even when he wasn’t involved. The law applies retroactively and would cover his extensive use of state planes throughout his time as governor. It would also cover records related to visitors to the governor’s mansion, opponents said. Public access in Florida state records and meetings has been enshrined in the state constitution.

We Can Learn to Hate: Retribution is at Hand

I strive to maintain a comprehensive perspective on the events that have unfolded in my life. This approach allows me to think more clearly and consider different points of view, even when they directly oppose my own. Surprisingly, I have often found similarities amidst divergent opinions. I believe I possess a good heart, soul, and mind, characterized by a fascinating blend of qualities. However, even the most virtuous individuals have a breaking point where they must stand up and fight for their convictions.

Now is the time to confront reality. I once believed that no one could harbor as much hatred as you do. I held on to the hope that there was some underlying sense of understanding, acknowledgement, empathy, civility, and acceptance within you. Unfortunately, I was blinded by the notion that you were genuinely a good person and that your actions were mere political posturing. But do we truly pose such a significant threat to you that you resort to violence against those you fail to comprehend?

When you initially began shouting words, I attempted to help you, only to be met with deaf ears. I continued to offer assistance when you directed your shouts towards those who embrace acceptance. As you emerged onto the streets, employing intimidation tactics, I maintained hope. However, it was when you initiated campaigns of aggression against businesses and personally attacked me that I realized you would never change.

Your heart is consumed by hatred, and your sense of compassion has been clouded. The tipping point for me was the outbreak of physical violence. I decided enough was enough. I concluded that you are incapable of harboring any semblance of affection for others, and I pity you. Feeling unsafe as you unleashed physical violence upon us, I refuse to allow anyone to infringe upon my rights through threats, and I will not idly witness such transgressions.

I sincerely hope that one day the tables turn against you. I will find satisfaction in watching as you endure physical, mental, and financial torment, as well as discrimination that makes your life unbearable. It seems you deserve such consequences. I used to believe that everyone possessed at least one redeeming quality, but you have proven me and society wrong.

You are the one who should face the consequences, dangling from a tree, your body left to decompose, serving as a warning to all. You should be the one subjected to such severe beatings that your visage becomes unrecognizable, tied up on a desolate fence. You should be abandoned on the streets, forced to beg for mercy. I wish someone would come and pummel you senseless because it brings me joy. You should live a life in which your name is never spoken, as if you never existed.

And when you depart from this world, your name will fade into oblivion, erased from the collective memory. Life will move on without you, for your existence was devoid of meaning. You will be forgotten by history, not even worthy of a footnote.

While I may not initiate conflicts, I certainly know how to bring them to a decisive end.

Therefore, do not judge me based on your perceptions, but rather evaluate me for the content of my character and my actions.

FOR I AM A DEMOCRAT, I AM A MAN, I AM OLD, I AM WHITE, I AM GAY, AND YES, I AM AN AMERICAN."
